Every water skier knows that the skiing over the wake after boat passes is a real challenging. A big announcements (big boat) around SNW about storage management was Aperi.

” Brocade, Cisco, Computer Associates, Engenio, Fujitsu, IBM, McData, Network Appliance and Sun got together to form Aperi a consortium that will try to develop an open-source storage management platform for managing heterogeneous storage environments. ”

So we will have to ski the wake to see what this does to the storage management waters. Notice EMC, HP, AppIQ, and Hitachi are not on the boat. So is this a reaction to HP acquiring AppIQ? Is this a publicity stunt (we already have SMI-S)? What lies beneath may be significant - and just as in the movie a bit scary.
